Leave the busy day-to-day behind and connect back to the peace of the natural world at our secluded woodland site near the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge. Wander in the wilds to discover a wide range of mushrooms, seeds, berries, nuts and leaves that can be used to make tasty and nutritious foods as well as potent medicines.
A big part of what excites us about foraging is tapping back into ancestral wisdom. As well as plant and fungi identification, we’ll introduce you to core bushcraft skills including an ancient fire lighting technique.
The day includes:
– An introduction to the practice of foraging and its core principles
– Introduction to the identification and classification of fungi.
– Uses of mushrooms for food, medicine, and bushcraft.
– Plant and tree ID skills.
– Methods of gathering and preparing wild foods.
– Folklore & history.
– Nutritional & medicinal benefits of wild plants and fungi.
– An introduction to core bushcraft skills including an ancient fire lighting technique
– Wild food samples to try along the way
– A cook-up over the campfire.
