Calderdale Heritage Walk Anne Lister’s Shibden: Her Private Face
Event description
Anne Lister returned forlorn to Shibden in 1832, betrayed by yet one more woman’s marriage plans. Then re-acquaintance with neighbouring heiress Ann Walker changed her life ~ forever. Anne Lister deployed her considerable persuasive powers to enthral and seduce this wealthy young woman ~ all out of sight of prying eyes down in Halifax.
A 4-hour walk, including a very steep climb up Old Bank. Includes short readings from Nature’s Domain. Please bring packed lunch & snacks. Walking shoes or boots are essential. Sorry no dogs. Bus back to Halifax.

We will use TicketSource https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/calderdale-heritage-walks which appears to be an easy site to use and, if we have to cancel a walk, will provide an automatic refund. The cost of most walks will be £4 inclusive of booking fee but a few are £5 because of extra expenses. The site will open for bookings on Friday 21st May. Groups will be between 16 and 22.
Many of our walks start at 2pm and the details of where to meet, including a post code, will be on your ticket. These walks are not really suited to under 13s.
