Beginners Chair Caning Class
Event description
Discover the heritage craft of chair caning in this hands-on one day class. With host, furniture restorer Julia Walton, you will learn the six-way weaving pattern most commonly used in caned chairs. You get to take your caned panel away with you along with a comprehensive booklet to help you carry out your new skill at home. Gift certificates available, contact for more information.
Located in Elland, furniture restorer Julia Walton will guide you through the technique of chair caning to make your very own sample weaving to take home.
All materials are provided including a wooden practice frame and cane. Hot and cold drinks are provided but please bring a packed lunch. Booking essential.
