During the summer, millions of people across the UK enjoy themselves at events such as Pride, music festivals and concerts, sports, bank holidays and marathons. Unfortunately, we know that larger events could be attractive targets for terrorist activity.
That’s why Counter Terrorism Policing is re-launching its communication campaign, encouraging the public to trust their instincts and report anything that doesn’t feel right to the onsite security or the police.
The communications toolkit is available, on ProtectUK, you’ll find free posters, videos, images and more that can be used by event organisers, security professionals, venues, businesses, local councils and others throughout the summer. This has been tested among the public, who have found the messaging to be helpful and memorable for encouraging them to report suspicious activity.
The summer campaign includes the #BeSafeBeSound campaign, with bespoke content for festivals and live music events.
“We know that our campaigns are a powerful way to use security-minded communications to add a layer of protective security. Promoting this campaign could help deter hostile activity at major events and locations at no cost, for organisations.”
“We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe.”
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law delivers the Government’s manifesto commitment to strengthen the security of public premises and events. For more details on how this could affect your event, click on the link below.
