Historical Halifax Panoramic Walking Tour – 5 miles
Event description
A delightful panoramic walk on the hills immediately around Halifax centre, taking around 3½hrs, offering extensive views over not only the town itself, but also the Hebble and Shibden Valleys. We’ll look at the marked prosperity of Georgian Halifax, based on trade and textiles, mining and minerals – all well before the Industrial Revolution. In this earlier period fortunes were made, skills developed and roads, canals and bridges were built and improved; all of which facilitated the later growth of the town. The walk points out places of interest connected to influential figures such as Lister, Rawson and Bronte.
The walk follows pathways but is steep in places and requires a reasonable level of fitness.
Tours start/end at DiscoverHalifax. Please note that this walk follows pathways/tracks and is steep in places, starting uphill so ensure you wear suitable footwear.
